CHAPTER 24

Side by side, they sat in front of the burning fireplace. Nira leaned over to put on another log. She was enjoying her evening; it had been years since she could honestly say she had been this happy. Over the past few months, she had learned so much from Stephanie, but the more life she saw dancing within those beautiful dark eyes, the more she wanted now. She had scolded herself throughout the night that she had never really lived; time was on her side, yet she was throwing it away. That’s about to change, Nira thought with a smile.

She took a deep breath and took the first step. “Would you like to join me in the hot tub?” she asked.

A gleaming smile was her answer. Stephanie quickly stood up. “I’ll go change,” she yelled, running up the stairs.

Nira prepared the tub while she waited for Stephanie to get ready. When the water was warm and bubbling, she slipped off her clothes and stepped inside, letting the heat soothe away her anxiety, she breathed in the steam. This was the first time she would not be alone in the tub. Usually, Nira would enter the small room alone. Each evening when she woke, she took the time to collect her focus. It had become a routine. She would soak in the hot tub then go into the gym and practice building her skills. There was nothing like a good fight to get her energy up for the night's hunt.

The door to the room opened, Stephanie stepped in, wrapped in a small white towel, just barely covering her midsection. Nira rolled her eyes up and fixated on the woman before her. She gulped back what felt like a boulder. Stephanie stepped closer until the space between her, and tub was closed.

“I brought you a glass of wine.” Lifting her had up exposing two wine glasses pinched between her fingers.

Nira did say anything as she took the glasses. She was aware her eyes betrayed her thoughts. Having Stephanie this close, almost naked and her the smell of her sex tickling her nose, held her in place as she anticipated the outcome.

“Are you going to just stand there or get in.” Nira tried to sound nonchalant.

Stephanie smiled wickedly, the side of her lips indenting upwards, and removed the towel, allowing it to drop to the floor below.

Nira held her breath as Stephanie stepped into the water. Nira mused Stephanie intended to take her time, knowing it was driving her insane. Nira sat back once the water covered ripped just over Stephanie’s shoulders.

“Wine?” Nira reached her arm out just enough that Stephanie would have to inch closer. Her plan worked, because Stephanie took it a step further and leaned into Nira. Nira pulled her closer and wrapped her arms around her waist.

“Thank you for tonight,” Stephanie whispered in her ear.

Their fingers locked together like puzzle pieces. Nira pressed her lips to Stephanie’s cheek and whispered, “No, thank you. You have given life back to this lifeless body.
